Saige Barlow-Smith-Ch 4-6
Once again, I am fascinated at so many of the things that the author has talked about! I really liked the exercises he talked about, and some of them I have used under the direction of my voice teacher. I also liked how he talked about free-flowing air, since it made sense and I found it helpful for my own voice. That, and I’m a flautist, so I totally geeked out when he talked about making falsetto sound “fluty” and why he describes it that way. Seriously though, the overall concept of chiaroscuro and how he breaks it down into speech and breathing really brought a really intriguing perspective on how the voice works and can naturally produce sound. I found it very useful as well both as a teacher and a student, since one of the main things I have been working on in lessons is singing in as much of a natural and effortless way that I can do.
