Here are my random margin notes from chapters 4 through 6!
Definition: Chiaroscuro means balance of bright and dark.
Don't tell students to make space (they usually make downward space and you want upward space)
The resonance of our sound is dependent on the vowel.
Q. What are sinus resonators?
Use vernacular speaking to find freedom in breath and muscles, it teaches important lessons for singing.
Brightest to darkest vowels: i e a o u
Projection is relaxed and natural: this is my stage voice. It is clear and able to be heard even without a mic. It is not hard or tiring for me to create. In fact it feels very healthy, my sound is just very focused.
When speaking in piano lessons make sure I'm not talking too loud and the my larynx isn't raised.
Use forward propulsion for line speaking.
Speaking range can point to singing range. So cool!!!! I just recorded my voice and I think I speak at about a B.
I need to make sure my vowels are more pure. I think I mix specific vowels if one isn't resonant and it comes out weird.
Make sure my nasal french ah isn't too far back. I think it is super far back so I need to try bringing it forward.
Find which vowels people from Utah struggle with! He says everywhere has something!
What? Don't girls not have falsetto?
Oh is my falsetto my ghosty voice?
I don't think I understand this falsetto thing for girls . When the vocalis muscles start vibrating in women is that what creates a mixed sound with both chest and head voice? Or is that something completely different.
Use a siren to find the sensation of backspace. Don't surge breath at the top of the siren. It tightens. Allow the voice to feel breathy up high. Focus on the breathy sensation up there if it is really tense.
Larynx is typically relaxed on low notes. Try sliding up to avoid raised larynx.
Extend sigh exercise to my lowest notes. Keep steady airflow.
Over correct when working on a vocal problem. Pendulum effect.
Chiaro when bad!-Squeeze chords
Oscuro when bad!-Drop jaw and press larynx down.
