Saige Barlow-Smith-Into to part I, Ch 1-3
So, as I was reading I fell in love with some of the things that were talked about, and already I can see why my teacher, Laurie Hart, enjoys this book! All the time, she tells me that the air has to come out through a column, or she’ll pick on me (lovingly) for not bending my knees or if the shoulders come forward. She also has me speak text as often as I can during my practice, and it makes a HUGE difference! One of the other things I enjoyed reading about is how he would compare other instruments to the voice, and as someone who plays a lot of instruments it caught my attention, and I knew why singing and playing instruments help my abilities in both. For instance, I play the trumpet, and everything he says about how brass instruments is not only accurate, but it is exactly how Arnold Jacobs describes it and relates it to the voice. So far, I think this is a really intriguing book, and I can’t wait to read more!
