I wrote so many notes in the margins of each page! For my post I will rattle off a bunch of the thoughts I had that were my own, or summarized what Smith said.
Your naked voice is wholly you!
Different teachers use different methods, different students learn in different ways. Find a good match. A strong connection to your voice teacher will help you immensely.
Find your specific passion.
The value of this book is in the application of the ideas not in the information.
Different instruments (depending on what they are made of) mute or project the sound. I wonder what our bodies do? Perhaps some of both??
Resonance is passive, it is the result of the placement of the sound in a specific place.
It isn't just as simple as your voice, good intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and physical balance is needed.
Start with the whole and then break it down.
Look for the reason behind the problem. Don't do temporary fixes.
Question: Does the vocal fold length and shape have to do with your range?
Natural talent isn't everything!
Application: practice singing with out making a single judgment. See how long I last. examining and modifying should be done in practices not rehearsals. How do you balance not listening to yourself and being critical with listening and evaluation and modifying to create a better sound?
People speak healthily naturally.
Definition: Vernacular speech- Everyday speech, natural speech.
Application- Breath: your body knows how much you need for a phrase. Trust it
Q. if our vocal folds don't have nerves, what is it I feel when my voice is tired or overused?
