Courtney-VRH 11/2

·      Sadie Carlson-Loch Lomond

o   Great space in bottom/lower notes, let that space in the throat feel consistent in the top register as well. The top pitches were best in middle of the song.

o   Clearer vowel on the last [e] of /banks/

o   Find a little more stretch in the back of your neck so it’s more balanced

·       Lauren Clark- Garten Mother’s Lullaby

o    Great movement between notes, especially in the higher sections at the beginning

o   A little far back, especially in the lower parts, let the vowels be focused/centered more towards the front of your face. Started to move this way as you went on.

·       Archer Dame- For Forever

o   I like that you let it be light and feel good even when it would’ve been really easy to push to reflect the emotion. You’ve got a great upper register. Use the [ae] vowel/resonance to find a little more punch in your sections that you want to be bigger while still maintaining space

o   Lighter/quieter parts still need forte energy

·       Tanner Doyle- O Mio amato ben

o   Find a little more yawny/sneezy space in your inhales and throughout your phrases

o   Let your tongue do more of the articulation work so that you don’t have to move your jaw open and close as much

o   Let your breath release all the way down into your abdomen

·       Lily Goodworth- WA Mozart

o   Excellent space and freedom in the movement through phrases. It sounds crystalline and easy 😊

o   It sounds a little shallow and your breaths are a little gaspy: think a sneezy or yawny breath that releases below your ribcage (or lower, play with what feels good to you)

·       Hannah Hanks- Brahms

o   You’ve got a great tone; I love your voice!

o   The movement and breath energy through the phrases is consistent for the most part 😊

o   You need more space between your back molars (or more sneezy space) and a little bit of an excited lift in your cheeks, like you’ve just put your foot in a bucket of ice water

·       Emily Hill- Crudele- Antonio

o   Your breaths are a little shallow and gaspy, find a release all the way down in your abdomen and feel cold air on the top of your mouth as you do.

o   Good movement through phrases, could use a little more excitement and energy 😊

o   You’ve got a great sound!!

·       Cassie Ingles- Sympathy-

o   Good forward tone, especially in the upper voice

o   Let your energy come from deeper, and release your stomach between phrases

o   More space between back molars and articulation with your tongue rather than your jaw

·       Jessie Kiester- I Want the Good Times Back

o   Let a little more of your chest resonance/lower body energy in those quieter/lower more spoken part. Not so that they’re heavy, just so that there’s some energy and core behind them. Use dump and float exercises to practice leaving the weight behind if you need.

o   Great high mix/belt! A Little more [ae] on those ending notes

·       Miranda Mann- Everything Happens to Me

o   Good suspension in the upper voice, I think you’re missing some richness. Maybe do some exercises to strengthen your TA muscles so that you can find more connection to your body and more core to the sound

·       Brynlee Downs- Make Me Whole- Rob Gardner

o   “Dreams” was so good! Find that feeling and them move to the darker vowels (as in “know”) so you can put them in the same place

o   Let your throat feel just as open on the top pitches, and just use your internal ear to change the pitch and then let your darker vowels focus forward so they can be as bright as your

o   “soul” was tight, let the [o] still have back space find upward stretch in back top molars

o   Good high mix/belt
