Skeen- Voice Recital Hour 10/7/21

 Nick W.

-Good ennunciation of the consonants

-Had points of really great resonance

-French is so hard to get just right

Miranda M.

-I noticed her hand was shaping the piece. I would have hand movements be more intentional instead of just pulsating with the music to shape the phrases and then occassionally moving upwards.

-[i] vowel had some really great resonance

-I love that this is the second French song I have listened to today.

-Great shaping of the phrases

-I did notice some tension throughout the piece but ultimately it was a lovely performance

Allison O.

"Don't Rain On My Parade" from Funny Girl

-I noticed that high notes were just loud. I would love to hear more resonance on those notes.

-quiet notes had more resonance and better placement.

-I love the energy she is putting into this piece. She is really putting a lot heart into this piece.

-Every time she sings louder it sounds so tense and like she's pushing it instead of just allowing the notes to happen and to be louder because they are in a more resonant place.

Camryn R,

"One Perfect Moment" from Bring It On the Musical

-Such a vulnerable song.

-"I'll Know" had a really nice ring to it in a very resonant spot.

-[o] is a really good vowel for her. Every time she sings it, it is absolutely delicious.

-I would love to hear the same kind of resonance and freedom that she sang in "I Know" on words like "mine", and "time".

Caden W.

Two songs by Robert Schumman

-I love how purposeful his had movements are.

-I noticed how he stayed in character.

-Ooh! I love how different each song sounds in the way he performs them. There is a definant difference. I also love how he doesn't lose energy on the quieter more legato song.

-Great resonance. I feel like he could have more expansion in his rib-cage on some moments during the quieter song. If he had the same consistent expansion on the second song that he did on the first song, that would be wonderful!

Megan R.

"A Horse With Wings" by Ricky Igor

-I'm actually singing this song this semester

-Had some really great moments, would be wonderful if it was completely consistent. For example if the third section had the same ring as the first section.

-Maybe more breath support. No need to pull that last note back, it should be spinning forward.

-I loved her focus during the song.

Anna S.

"Home" from Beauty and the Beast

-I love this song.

-Kind of breathy at some points. I don't know if that was a stylistic choice.

-I loved the spin on the word "cold" and "easy"

-Had some really great moments of resonance on the lower notes, higher notes sounded a little pushed to me instead of relaxed.

-Very savory quality to her voice that I absolutely love though.

-Lots of roaming with her eyes. I would love to see more characterization in her performance of this song. Who is Belle singing to?

Annika S.

"I gave you something of love" by John Duke

-I love the way she sings the word "love" and "deep" on those rich lower notes

-I could hear some tongue tension on some of the higher notes.

Tori T.

"Joy"

-I noticed that she moves her neck by nodding her head a little on the higher notes. Maybe this is because of come tension in her upper body.

-I love the resonance and ring she has on many of her notes though.

-What a fun song. She tells the story well.

Hope W.

Song from Dear Evan Hansen

-Very captivating performance.

-Beautifully done.

-I love how she incorporates a breathy sensation at the end like that of a whisper.

Kayla W.

"Oblivion" by Kayla W.

-A Pop quality

-A problem I have discovered with writing your own songs is finding balance between the singer and the accompaniment. In addition to finding a style.

-There were moments that I couldn't hear her over the piano.

-Hard to hear all of the words.

-I'm not sure being that breathy on the high "falling" was a great choice vocally.

- I wonder what inspired her to write this song.

Tanner P.

"Strings"?

-I love Tanner's voice.

-Great diction

-I love how he dances with the song

-I noticed just a bit of tension at some points though.
