When I performed in masterclass, I noticed that there was a lot of emphasis on using more of my speaking voice. At first, I was having trouble adjusting to that, but once I did I noticed a lot more engagement and power in my singing voice. I’m also grateful we worked on the last part though, because I was having the sound that I wanted on the last page. Nevertheless, I did not even notice that I was not singing as loud as I could’ve, but with my “speech voice,” I suppose I might call it, I heard more volume than I thought I could bring out ever. I thought the template analogy was very interesting, too. Usually, we’re told “Sing it in your head voice!” or “Don’t sing that in your chest, or you’ll kill your voice.” Well, I felt like for this particular song, I was able to mix the “proper placement” with my chest voice and get a comfortable sound. Not to mention, I had a ton of fun with what I was working on! I’m glad I participated today!
