Summary: First off, bank robbers: Lamm taught in such a way
that he could effectively communicate his ideas and translate them into
seamless performance. He taught with discipline and exactitude. Using small,
targeted, highly specific adjustments leads to a better outcome. Teaching
changes with each student depending on their personality and what they need to
grow.
Key words:
“Wooden” teaching – teaching by example using a group of
three. The first is a model of how to do it correctly, second is a model of how
to do it incorrectly, third is a model of how to do it correctly again.
Application: I can teach with exactness and focus on
specific adjustments one at a time as the need arises. Listening to and
understanding the needs of each student is imperative to finding the best
teaching method for them.

Summary: The four virtues of Master Coaches – The Matrix, Perceptiveness,
The GPS Reflex, Theatrical Honesty. Myelin circuits grow differently depending
on the skill being acquired.
Key words:
Matrix – the vast grid of task-specific knowledge that
allows teachers to creatively and effectively respond to a student’s efforts. A
master coach’s killer application.
Perceptiveness – observing each student to learn what their
unique learning style is. Do they need more shit, or more whipped cream?
The GPS Reflex – when information is relayed in a series of
short, vivid, high-definition bursts.
Theatrical Honesty – by using both overly excitable and
dramatic antics, you can convey either praise or constructive criticism. The
degree of theatrics changes depending on the student. It is always honest about
the subject being covered, no lies.
Application: Clearly communicating instructions to my students
is important for future success. Be honest with them when they make mistakes and
when they get something right.
