Well, I also have never heard this repertoire before. I think this might be very useful, say, if I teach students who also connect well with LGBTQ literature.
I actually really like this song! As for the singing, I don’t really have anything bad to say! I can tell this text is very meaningful to you, so automatically you are able to naturally find your sweet spot and engage yourself into the song. I noticed that even more when you placed more emphasis on some of the syllables and words in the song! Even knowing what your voice has sounded like throughout school, I have noticed that you have made for yourself an increasingly natural sound that rings in any range that you sing in! You must’ve developed myelin passageways while practicing, and I can hear that.
One thing I noticed about the masterclass also is the little changes in emotional expression you have made. You’re a very talented actor, of course, so you were able to pick it up pretty easily. As you did, it made your performance a million times better, even if I didn’t think it could be better!
I’m always amazed with your voice, and I can’t wait to hear it in your recital this semester!
