Chapter 1- The Sweet Spot
Mistakes are important to figuring things out. They force you to slow down and think about what went wrong. From the book:
"operating at the edges of your ability, where you make mistakes, makes you smarter."
Application:
Both slowing down in my practice- by moving slower and not pushing through the pieces I'm studying- and by taking time to reflect on mistakes I make will improve my ability to overcome those mistakes, and to teach others how to overcome those same mistakes.
Chapter 2- The Deep Practice Cell
Basically what's going on here is that myelin is apparently the key to making connections and learning. More myelin all wrapped up leads to greater strength and speed of nerve fiber firing.
Application:
Practice things over and over again. Get my brain and body accustomed to doing things a certain way- correctly.
