Kat H. - “Widmung”
- Nice forward sound and great pronunciation of the text!
- This song is a wedding present for Clara from Robert Schumann.
- Move your phone in the air like you’re at a football game or a concert. Then, switch arms.
- Take two chairs and lay your forehead against the one in front of you.
- Kind of like the football huddle
- Some of these awkward things we feel we are worse at doing, but think about how it’s different.
- Lean against the wall and then stand straight back up until you find no difference.
- Don’t try to fix what’s wrong but find what is right.
- “Headgear”
- There should be very little movement in the jaw
- When your mouth opens, we want the jawbone to move back and not forward.
- Pull on your ponytail straight up.
- I can’t lengthen my neck by using my neck muscles, so I just use my arm.
Nalani M. - “Quel Guardo Il Cavaliere… So Anch’io La Virtù Magica” - Don Pasquale
- Using a book for a prop! Love it!
- Laughing section! I love it!
- Gorgeous open sound!
- She can hit high notes like they’re easy!
- Staccato section sounds very clear and articulate!
- Trying the sob singing - Laurie does this with me a lot!!
- This is for the first section, which is slower, and she’s still reading the book.
- During the fast part, Cindy had Nalani have a sense of hyperventilation to make the sound more clear.
- Sing the high note more suddenly, like it’s the most fun part.
- We want people to wonder when you’re going to finish singing the high note.
Camilla H. - “Vanilla Ice Cream” from She Loves Me
- Very open sound already!
- Acting was very natural in the middle section.
- Excellent text interpretation!
- Could use better preparation for the high B natural towards the end.
- Practice nasal-sounding exaggeration as if you were a cartoon character.
- “It’s just of the nose, not in the nose.”
- Sounds like Elmo, at least when it comes from Cindy…
- Take that and sort of apply that to singing, so it’ll carry and resonate.
