Saige Barlow-McCoy-Ch6
The power spectrum, the way it was described, reminds me of the sound waves typically seen from an Audacity or Memos file, except it is organized a little differently. To me, it looks more like the sound wave is placed on a chart and measured based on frequency and energy (in decibels) at the same time. Of course, formants also amplify energy, which is another reason why taking about how formants are used is so important. Everything’s starting to connect now, and I love it! I also thought the spectrograph was really interesting, and it’s really cool how a sound is truly broken down. You can find one online, and I believe my world music teacher a few years ago showed one to us and explained how it worked, and it was so intriguing!
