This exercise is to help with breath. It's a good way to determine where you should breath as well as work on getting a good breath. You will do this exercise for a piece that you have. If you are singing to a backing track or recording this is great to do while you are listening to that, or if you have an accompanist. What you do is sustain a hiss where you would normally sing. Breath where you would normally breath in the song. This has helped me gain confidence in my breathing so I don't suck in air. It also helps me determine where I will need to take breaths in my song.
