Tanner Pruett - VRH - 10/7

 Kaylyn B.

-very free and mature tone

-sounds forward and resonant to me

-moments of hesitations in the runs, but overall great technique

Nick W.

-notes are separated, would love to hear more legato

-sound seems to be sitting in the back of the voice (bring it forward and keep it in the resonance)

Miranda M.

-avoid moving the arms in a circular motion while performing (good for the practice room, not here)

-lower notes seem to have an aspirate quality (bring into a forward resonance?)

-would love some more musical levels throughout the piece

-don't lock the jaw for a high "eee" vowel (I understand the temptation)

-very beautiful and pleasant tone

Allison O.

-find a focal point while you are singing (especially in "Don't Rain on my Parade")

-great belt; would focus it more forward to make it more efficient (sounds a little damaged at the moment)

-love the commitment; more specific character choices would make it even more compelling

Camryn R.

-love the storytelling; focus the lower parts in a way that is closer to the speaking voice (a little breathy at the moment)

-very straight tone overall, which works for this genre, but letting it "shimmer" at the end of each phrase would help maintain resonance

-very beautiful and great intonation

Caden W.

-very mature resonance; especially for a freshman

-the tone is very dark and I think a little swallowed

-would love a brighter tone on the lower range (to help it resonant as much as the middle range)

-love the reverence for the song and the use of quieter dynamics

Megan R.

-very breathy lower range and higher range

-relatively straight tone; would love some more vibrato

-the tone sounds unsupported by the body

-very floaty

Anna S.

-very breathy tone; would love some more bite to the tone

-the higher and softer parts are very airy; "piano" doesn't mean unsupported

-some slight intonation issues when leaping to a higher note (the pitch is flat for little bit before it settles)

-more dynamics (I need more forte!)

-how do we work on mix voice with female voices in this genre? (She sang "Home" from Beauty and the Beast)

Annika S.

-very breathy tone, but also very compelling and cool (but it could be a stylistic choice)

-some slight intonation issues at the beginning of the piece

-very straight tone (works for the style I think)

Tori T.

-good vibrato, but it's moving the jaw (I think this is a sign of tension)

-very resonant and floaty high range (occasional intonation issues); kind of extreme transition between the passaggios

-kind of swallowed tone in the lower/middle range

Hope W.

-very breathy on the super low notes (don't let it sink, focus it forward)

-good diction (I'm getting almost every word)

-really great belt; would love that resonance and brightness on the lower range

-very compelling character choices (I think this really helps the tone be resonant and makes the tone match the style)

Kayla W.

-breathy lower range (bring it forward!)

-would love some clearer diction (the piano is a little overpowering)

-great intonation throughout

-great dynamic choices
