Ch. 6
Computerized voice analysis is likely never going to be able to surpass the human ear and brain. Spectrograms add dimension of time to acoustic analysis, but they work better for males as they sing in a range where you can see more harmonics. There are different kinds of learners, there are kinesthetic learners, intellectual learners, aural learners, and visual learners. Application: What I want to take from this lesson is that the world we live in today has so many advances in technology and in different machines but nothing can replace the humans abilities. Although these different machines can be used as tools to help us see and understand the voice better. They should not be relied on though when it to working with the voice as you need more than just visual's, you need to know how it feels in the body.
Ch. 7
Tips for a healthy voice: Speak well, sing well, hydration, rest, good hygiene, and avoiding unnecessary drug use. Staying physically fit is also good for singers because then their cardiovascular health is better. Be smart with your voice, do not sing if you are ill.
Laryngitis, GERD, MTD, Vocal fold hemorrhage, polyps, and nodules, there are so many things that can happen within your voice which is why it is extra important to take care of you voice.
Application: Never push the voice. There are so many ways that your voice can get injured or cancer or diseases you can get so if your voice is tired or especially right now because I am sick. So, I need to be extra careful with the choir performances and things that are going on right now.
