This was a rather long, but very informational and useful chapter for me. I have learned a lot about how breathing works in ways that I have never really thought about before. For instance, the muscles associated with breathing as well as cartilage at the rib cage all engage in allowing the lungs to expand. Imagine what would happen if the rib cage was all solid bone. I bet none of us would be as well able to sing or even breathe as well if that were the case. I also didn't know that there were intercostal muscles that were linked to the rib cage (or at least, I did not know what they were called or what they did). It was all very intriguing information, and I can see why the way we breathe naturally is so important to singing and how the breath effects singing. It's also an easy start to better understanding the voice and good technique--you need a nice, big deep breath and a steady flow of air in order to sing well and here's how--that sort of deal.
