Kaylee Borchert - McCoy - Ch. 8

A register contains contiguous pitches, they are produced in the same physiological manner, and the pitches share the same basic timbre. There is also a very hard task of identifying the number of registers present in the voice. Opera singers and those trained in classical music try and minimize the changes within the timbre of the musical scale. The shift from mode 1 to mode 2 occurs at different points for all singers. The mode you use should be chosen by the desired timbre, artistic factors, and the tessitura that has to be sustained.

Application:

I want to apply this chapter by becoming more aware of where my voice "changes" and becoming more familiar with the my own mode 1 and mode 2. Where does my voice made the adjustement to my higher and lower register? I also would like to be more aware of which mode I am using in the musical theatre pieces I am doing and knowing if I am pushing one mode too much when I should be switching.
