I was having a voice lesson, as is customary for me on Thursdays. We began with our usual warmups, singing the "mings" and a seductive little "veeeeeaaaahhayeeahohooooh". In writing, this may look like the onomatopoeia that would be used for a cowboy being strangled in a comic book, but you're going to have to trust me that it is actually a posh little voice exercise. During these vocal practices, I was focusing on finding the right resonance in my face. We also tested my comfortable range and I can comfortably go a whole step lower than I could before and a half step higher without feeling any strain. Perhaps it was just a good day for my voice, but I am feeling pleasant inside regardless. We then worked on "Nella Fantasia". I first sang along with a few versions of it and then I sang on my own. We went over the higher sections of the song several times making sure I was putting the sound in the right spot and having good support. I pulled on a strap that was around my feet to make sure my core was in the right spot.
It was at this point that suddenly the world shattered around us, and I flew forward to the end of time. I beheld everything I had ever known as it exploded into shards of chaos. Then, in a second, it all reformed itself before my very eyes, and I was returned to where I was. I really have no idea what caused this incident to occur, but I must say I am very sad with the changes made to chair design in this version of the timeline.
Gideon, your narration is amazing. I legitimately thought for a second that I had clicked on the wrong blog link because of your epic opener. Also, congrats on improving your range!
ReplyDeleteHey, Gideon. I didn't know you authored this. But, 'very creative. The Matrix has you...
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear, more conventional parlance, how you felt about your voice lesson. But, very cool...
